Mental Health in Young Adult Literature
The importance of stories takes on added significance when we look at how mental health issues are depicted in young adult novels. 1 in 5 teens will be diagnosed with some type of mental health issue; seeing their stories told and knowing they’re not alone can be powerful. These narratives, combined with personal stories of authors and other teen advocates, are helping remove some of the stigma and isolation that can come with this topic.

All are welcome to learn about the history and to create the future!

Every hero has a great origin story that helps them figure out what they believe and what motivates them to change the world. You can be a hero, too! It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of injustice in the world, but this workshop will help you explore what you want to work on and what values guide you in your quest for social justice and in the rest of your hero's story.
